Since mid-March thousands of feet have been pounding roads across the South of England as part of pre-London half marathons. Many runners use the the thirteen point one mile distance; in locations from Dartford to Reading, Colchester to Hastings, as a warm up for the London Marathon at the end of April. Others train for this distance in its own right. Whatever part these races play for the individuals taking part one thing is certain; that there is some kind of training schedule or plan in place. A Good Old Fashioned Spring Clean
With the advent of March, we have finally entered meteorological Spring. The evenings are noticeably lighter every day. Daffodils are winking in the unpredictable sunlight, giving a much missed splash of colour to the landscape. Our feathered, furry and amphibious friends are back in the neighbourhood and are making themselves heard. We all feel that we can achieve a lot more in the increasing minutes of daylight, and in the time that we save by not having to insert our bodies into several layers of fabric before venturing anywhere. The scope for potential is heavy in the air.
